Another short post - I'm off to bed in a minute. Just had to say how pleased I am with the new 'puter. I was kind of neutral about getting it - not excited at all - but it is great. I've been encoding MP3s all afternoon - I want to get rid of all my old CD singles as they take up so much room. Now I've got a big hard disk I can just stick them on there. The speed of the thing is phenomonal - compared to what I'm used to, anyway.

Met up with a guy I used to work with in London last night, he came round after work. After he left we went to TGI Fridays for some nosh as we were both starving and fancied something a bit better than pizza. Good scran, to be sure, but I had forgotten what it is like to eat in a restaurant chain like that. Everything is so manufactured, like a carbon copy restaurant that can be found in any town, in any country. Even the waitresses look like clones of other waitresses. And the way they talk, so rehearsed, so unnatural. For less money we had proper cuisine at a Brasserie in town. So TGI - FRO.

It's been a while - my cable modem broke on Monday and hasn't been working all week, nor has the cable TV. I've got an engineer coming this afternoon to try and fix it. So this is a quick post from work - I've been meaning to do this all week, but it has been really hectic.

Got my new PC yesterday - very impressed with it. It's got a good build on it (Windows XP Home). I did intend to rebuild it as soon as I got it with XP Pro, but to be honest it's fine as it is - and with the CM not working it's not possible to download hotfixes, drivers etc. I've already loaded most of my software on there, had a play with Bryce 4 last night and rendered a quick image with 3 metal spheres, some water and an island at sunset - it took 12 seconds. On my old PC that would have taken about an hour!

Yesterday one of my old school friends dropped me a line, we're meeting up in London next Tuesday. Should be interesting, I haven't seen him in about 12 years.

Watched The Sum Of All Fears last night. Quite enjoyed it, it's all about USA vs Russia, the threat of nuclear war, terrorism etc. Candi wasn't so keen though, not her sort of film at all.
