My first post to b3ta. Like I said, be gentle.

Playing RTCW last night. The game started off kind of like the original (Wolfenstein 3D) but with better graphics - you know, all German guards, spooky castles, guns, that sort of thing. But last night I got to the part where you enter the crypt and the game suddenly took a turn for the scary. It really made me jump a couple of times, you walk into a room, hear a noise and all of a sudden there's a zombie / skeleton / ghoul thing attacking you. They come out of the walls! The lighting and fog effects really make it work well, I've never been that scared by a video game before - I know it sounds stupid...

Back to work tomorrow; I could get used to this not working thing. All I need to do is make a few million and I'll be set.

"Sod's Law (para 428 subsection C) - if you haven't had any time off work in a long time and you take a couple of days holiday, expect to get sick". Yup, I've got a nasty, nasty cold. If I wasn't off on leave today I would probably have phoned in sick. It's one of those head colds where you are so bunged up you can't concentrate properly and my coordination is shot. I've been trying to play Return To Castle Wolfenstein today and it's hard not to keep getting killed. Fantastic game, though.

I bought The Seduction Of Claude Debussy by the Art Of Noise from Amazon.co.uk Marketplace (which got me thinking about selling some of my stuff on there). It only cost me �3.99 inc shipping, but it is a pre-recorded MiniDisc - only the second one I own. But the album itself is certainly interesting, a mix of lots of different styles of music that works really well together. If someone told me about an album which features John Hurt, Debussy and Rakim I'm not sure I'd know what to expect. But it's certainly worth a listen.

Did you see the b3ta.com competition last week? It was called "if advertisements were honest" and was a huge hit. I had a couple of ideas but never quite got round to actually doing them...

I've finally sorted out my Google listing - I'm on the first page if you search for "Ross Brown". All I need to do now is get some people to link to my site and I should go up in ranking. Thing is, who would want to link to me? Not much of interest on here... You can tell how (un)popular this site is by looking at the tagboard on my homepage! I could probably cheat by signing up for free hosting and creating lots of linking pages to my site myself, but I'm not that sad.
